My name is Jacob David Lang and I am a freelance Theatre Director. I’m midwestern through and through - born in Michigan, raised in the south Chicago suburbs, and currently based in Indianapolis. I work full-time as the Executive & Artistic Assistant at the Indiana Repertory Theatre while pursuing my Directing career.

I graduated from Ball State University in 2018 with a degree in Theatre Production, specializing in Directing. While there, I assistant directed many shows and directed Constellations by Nick Payne and A Woman’s Conscience by Naomi Boico.

After graduating, I moved to Chicago and assisted at Drury Lane Theatre on Beauty and the Beast and worked on the Chicago New Musical Theatre Festival before moving home due to the pandemic.

In February of 2022, I decided to leave my full-time job and started as an Assistant House Manager at IRT. After a few months, I was promoted to the full-time House Manager position. Most recently, I received a promotion to become the Executive & Artistic Assistant to IRT’s Artistic Director and Managing Director. In the 26-27 Season, I will also be the Assistant Director on The Da Vinci Code.

Since moving to Indianapolis, I have worked with American Lives Theatre, as the Director for Fatherland, two productions of Another Medea, and Animal Control. I have also work with ALT as the Assistant Director for The Minutes and The Humans. I also directed Se Battre Pour L’Amour in New York City through Friend of a Friend Productions. I will work with them again in 2027 as a producer and director on their next short play festival.
